The Mayflower was used as a cargo ship between England and other European countries. The Mayflower was a big cargo ship who could travel in many weeks without refill food to the crew on the ship. There were 102 passengers and a crew of 25 – 30 members.
The ship got a captain who wants to use the ship to transport people from England to America 1619 and in 1620 the owner of the ship decided to use the ship to transport people across the Atlantic sea. The vessel left England on September 6 in 1920, a year after the owner and the crew wants to start transport people. After a grueling 66-day journey marked by disease, which claimed two lives, the ship dropped anchor inside the hook tip of Cape Cod on November 11/21. The Mayflower was originally destined for the mouth of the Hudson River, but the ship went off course as the winter approached, and remained in Cape Cod Bay. On March 21/31, 1621, all surviving passengers, who had inhabited the ship during the winter, moved ashore at Plymouth, and on April the Mayflower returned to England. In 1623, a year after the death of the captain Christopher Jones, the Mayflower was most likely dismantled for scrap lumber in London. The ships was not a good ship when It was usesd to cross the sea with, and the story about that the ship get used to lumber to years after the boat leave England with pilgrims.
The plan of the voyage was initially to be made in two vessels, the other being the smaller Speedwell, which had transported some of the Pilgrims embarking on the voyage from Netherlands to Southampton in England. On the transport from Netherlands to England the crew on the ship developed a leak. The Ship needed two attempts too cross the Atlantic Sea. The first voyage of the ship departed Southampton on August but the Speedwell developed a new leak and the ship had to set course to England again. But next time it goes good and the ship want to America.
The Ship is a well known ship in American history and a symbol of strength in some British towns. The voyage to America with that boat is a risky tour, and many don’t think that the ship could clear the job.
